Haha.. so as an explanation, Cheri asked for me to draw my favourite place from the places project. I went a little overboard cause I am probably going to revisit this doodle and spend more time on it so I can include it in the book

Places: La Jolla, California

So I've been doing so many doodles for places rewards lately, I haven't really been doing anything for the actual book! I had a really inspiring weekend with Marie at La Jolla in San Diego County. I love how crazy the rocks look. I had a couple reference photos that looked a little like faces, so I did 2 little drawings of rock close ups and then a more pulled back shot

Places Reward: Vivienne Chan

Viv likes dolphins and volleyball. So I made her this normal one, but Rhia suggested a tom hanks dolphin with a viv-faced volleyball and that had to be done. so viv gets 2

Places Funding Reward: Justin Ford

Justin wanted something to do with evolution for his doodle.
Since I studied biology/neuro in university, I was totally pumped to draw him a pic of Gregor Mendel. Gregor was a friar who was the early founder of modern genetics. He did it all by breeding pea plants, and taking notes on what breeding certain types of peas with others resulted in, paving the way for research on genetic inheritance! He was a scientific badass.

I never actually saw the movie or read the comics, but I think he looks like he'd have a sensitive side.
